Christel Marie Lundeen, beloved wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away peacefully May 29, 2013, at home in Issaquah with her family at her side. She was 52 years old.

She is survived by her husband Terry, of Issaquah; her son Taylor (attending the University of Arizona); her son Christopher (attending Gonzaga University), her mother Barbara Snyder, of Cambria, Calif.; her brother Robert Van, of Newbury Park, Calif.; her brother Michael Van, of Edmond, Okla.; her brother Gregory Van, of Golden, Colo.; and eight nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by father Robert VanBuskirk.

Christel was born Feb. 5, 1961, in Orange, Calif. She grew up in Anaheim and Irvine, Calif. She attended Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, Calif., and then the University of California at Berkeley, where she received Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in civil engineering.

She worked as a structural engineer in San Francisco for several years before moving to the Seattle area with her husband in 1989 where she continued consulting engineering. She settled in Issaquah in 1997 and participated actively at her sons’ various schools over the years. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Issaquah.

Christel’s passions included first and foremost her sons, reading, gardening, music, hiking, cooking and especially tennis. She had a kind soul and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

There will be a celebration of Christel’s life at Tibbetts Creek Manor in Issaquah on June 15 at 2 p.m.
