Anne Carolyn Whitehead Walker, formerly of Upper Preston, passed away at home on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, after a seven-year battle with cancer.
Anne was born in Maryland, spent her early childhood in California and was a longtime resident of Washington state, graduating from Stadium High School in Tacoma.
Anne worked in insurance and advertising agencies in the Seattle area, and also was a member of the Suncadia Resort staff. Anne’s family is especially grateful to Suncadia for its extraordinary support during Anne’s illness.

Anne Walker
Anne’s joy of life was reflected in everything she did — she radiated love and enduring commitment to her family and friends with a great sense of humor and perspective. She loved to travel and enjoyed cruises and trips to England, Tahiti, Mexico and Hawaii. She created beautiful homes for her family, most recently the one in Teanaway, near Cle Elum.
In addition to her many friends, her family is mourning its loss: her loving husband Richard (Dick) Walker and devoted daughter Courtney Meaden (Parypa); son-in-law George Meaden; former husband Larry Parypa; precious grandchildren Hayden, McKenna, and Cameron; her mother Jan Harris; her brother Wayne Whitehead; her sisters Patricia (Parypa) and Nancy (Gross); and several nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, March 16, at the Lake Wilderness Lodge in Maple Valley beginning at 2 p.m. There will be a reception to celebrate Anne’s life after the service.
Anne’s family asks that friends consider contributions in her name to Home Health and Hospice in Ellensburg, the American Cancer Society or their favorite charities, in lieu of flowers.
Friends are invited to view photos, get directions and share memories in the family’s online guest book at www.flintofts.com.
