Mary Jeanne Revell

Mary Jeanne Revell, of Redmond, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013. She was 93 years of age.

Mrs. Revell was born Sept. 30, 1919, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Blanche Arnold. She was raised in the area of Gilroy, Calif., and graduated from Gilroy High School. She also attended various college classes in the San Francisco area, for furthering her career and related to her strong interest and talents in music.

She had many jobs including the following: housekeeper and cook, dental hygienist, ambulance driver with the Red Cross in Japan post-World War II, secretary with the San Francisco Vice Squad, and finally legal secretary for the partner of one of San Francisco’s law firms, from which she retired in 1984. After retirement, she moved to the Seattle area to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law who live in Issaquah.

She had played in both the Gilroy High School orchestra and marching band, and later in life volunteered as church organist and pianist. She also was a consistent subscriber to the San Francisco and then Seattle operas, and more recently of the Seattle Symphony. She also developed her talents with watercolor painting after her retirement, focusing on floral and landscape scenes. She had an abiding love of all animals, especially cats.

Survivors include son Richard Revell (Diane), of Issaquah; nieces Pat McCord (Bob), of Tucson, Ariz., and Brenda Dickinson (Gary), of Sequim; and nephew Chuck Rhoads, of Spokane.

No service will be held. The family suggests remembrances to the Humane Society.
