Beloved son, husband, crewmember, co-worker and friend Todd Dean Christensen sailed on to his heavenly home on Nov. 20, 2014. He was at his parents’ home after major surgery.
Todd was born Aug. 6, 1962, in West Seattle. He was married in 1996 to Leslie Hoag until 2011, when she preceded him. Todd’s interment was on Nov. 28, 2014. He is survived by his parents Dean and Lucille Christensen.
Todd graduated from Mount Rainier High School (1980) and the University of Washington (engineering, 1987). He worked for Boeing and Tyco, and for 20 years with the city of Issaquah, lately as engineering manager.
Todd enjoyed many interests, especially sailing. He started at the age of 13 and later competed at the highest levels, including the F18 Catamaran World Championships and many Hobie Cat 16 National Championships. Additionally, he sailed big boats, crewing for first place in a U.S Offshore Championship. He was also a craftsman and, with help from family members, built his dream house.
Todd was a servant at heart. He humbly thought of others first and was always ready to sacrifice his time for someone else’s project.
A celebration of Todd’s life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 109 S.W. Normandy Road, Seattle, WA 98166, (206-241-1606).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name for new sailors at Sail Sand Point (www.sailsandpoint.org/support-ssp) or the Todd Christensen Memorial Fund (www.vocf.org).
