John was born in Follinge, Sweden Aug. 24, 1923 to Johan Nilsson and Margareta Andersson. He served in the Swedish Military during WWII.
He immigrated to the United States in 1952 and lived in Long Island, N.Y. John moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1962 to enjoy his passion for the outdoors, which included hiking and fishing in the Cascade mountains, Puget Sound and also Alaska.
John was a homebuilder and was among the first builders in Mirrormont Estates on Tiger Mountain.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna-Lisa Nilsson; son John Nilsson and daughter-in-law Lisa Nilsson; daughter Ingrid Kafer and son-in-law Tim Kafer; grandchildren Nicholas Kafer and Karl Kafer; and sisters Karin Bentzen of Arizona and Anna-Lisa Sivertsson of Sweden.
